Koh Samui- Names on a Brick

Fisherman's village is situated on Bophut beach and is one of the most preserved areas in Koh samui.
Serving in the past as a french outpost of the island the village shows off its old wooden shop houses, mixed with some modern architecture and beautiful ocean vistas in between them. Here you will find romantic dining nooks overlooking the water, boutique stores for jewelery and clothing, as well as traditional souvenirs and knock offs of famous brands.

During evenings especially Friday night this street pretty much comes alive with numerous vendors, food and mojito stalls ( a healthy touristic atmosphere :) Not to miss!

This is how we found this little baby, sleeping on a dirty rug in one of the stores. There was nobody else around...

Did you know that Thai lobsters do not have claws? Eating again:)

And how about a fish pedicure? We nearly did that, but then something pulled us away.. hmm

Late evening we have arrived to the Big Buddha Temple- Wat Phra Yai.

Leave your shoes at the bottom of the stairs and go up to the 15 meter tall statue. Remember to wear appropriate attire, cover your shoulders, arms and legs.. I happened to break all the rules..but it seemed like the monk that we met at the location didn't mind at all :)

Honestly after we have seen so many temples and Buddhas prior to this one, it was all starting to look  the same, but then we stumbled upon "THE FOUR NOBLE TRUTHS"- very spiritually elevating :)

Another special thing about the place is that you are given a brick which will be part of the structure for the newly built temple. You can write your name or the name of your loved ones on the brick for good luck. It did seem like an act of eternity and serenity..
 and here we go...
