It is very hard to be in Israel and not to eat good. It is simply impossible not to eat. Israeli culture swivels around eating and even if you land at an average restaurant, you will not be disappointed. Though I had a long list of places I wanted to visit, I reached to only part of them. Below are my quick impressions.
24/7 breakfasts at Benedikt from around the world. Rothschild blvd 29,+972 3 6868657
Sea food at Zaken ve haYam, Kedem st 83, Tel Aviv +972 3-681-8699 (the new port of Jaffa). The best fish I ate in a long time, and many many salatim. Tea with nana, honey balls and cheese cake for desert. And the sea havent been bluer...
Enjoying Roshfield's high end cusine @ Tapas 1 haAm, on friday nights. It could be one of the michelins out there..
Dinners at Nanuchka, 28 Lilenblum Street. Tamarind chicken, dolma and feta khachapuri.
Over and over reading the napkins. "The world is beautiful, beautiful. Thrilling. It was created for you. I will fill it for you with love songs."
Soulful music and interior.
Best appetizers and schnitzel at Cafe Noir, 43 Ahad haAm. Strong espresso with chocolate mousse after two glasses of Champagne. My very favorite.
A shared plate of artichoke fettuccine at Dalal , Shabazi 10, Nave Zedek. When you just want to be in a charming place and to share some precious moments along with the food.
Yogurt limonada with red snapper sashimi @ Heder Ochel, 23 Shaul Hamelech Blvd, +972 3 696 61 88. A little break after visiting the whole new wing of Tel Aviv museum.
Comfort food at haMitbahon, 18 Rabi Akiva st. +972 35163689. Before or after the shuk on Shishi zoharaim(friday noon).
Greek Mousaka
Hummus @ Abu Hassan (or @ his sisters or brothers on 14 Shikmim st ), 1 Ha' Dolfin Street | Jaffa, +972 3 682 0387on Yom Shabat before the stroll at the new port. Still think Abu Gosh is way better.
